So what is HD? HDTV is an acronym for High Definition Television and is a new standard that combines both high-resolutions and Dolby Digital Surround Sound to give stunning TV experience.

So, what do the resolutions on TV's mean?

720p

With a 1280x720 pixel resolution this is the lower end of HD compliant resolutions more only seen in entry level HD models.

1080i

With a 1980x1080 pixel resolutions, 1080p displays the image in an interlaced formatm kaing it less superior to 1080p.

1080p

Often confused with 1080p, 1080p infact uses progressive scan to display pictures which gives a smoother image.
